TENS Therapy
TENS Therapy, or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, is a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle electrical impulses delivered through electrode pads placed on the skin. It may be used as part of a rehabilitation program to help manage pain and make movement and therapeutic exercise more comfortable. During TENS Therapy, a small device sends controlled electrical stimulation through electrodes positioned near the area being treated. The intensity can be adjusted for the patient's comfort. TENS may be incorporated into physical therapy for patients recovering from injuries, surgery, musculoskeletal conditions, or other conditions involving pain and limited mobility. At US Rehabilitation & Health Services, TENS Therapy may be used alongside therapeutic exercise, hands-on therapy, strengthening, mobility training, and other rehabilitation techniques as part of an individualized treatment plan. Your rehabilitation professional will determine whether TENS Therapy is appropriate for your condition and recovery goals.
